The modern day industrial business has a number of considerations to keep in mind in order to remain profitable.  One of the biggest considerations is the competition they face.  There is so much competition amongst these companies to produce more, and produce it faster and deliver it cheaper.  To do this these companies literally push their employees to meet strenuous deadlines.  In fact, it is not uncommon for many industrial companies to work three shifts a day, continuously running 24 hours a day.  The upside to this type of productivity means that the management makes hefty profits and workers continue to stay employed; however, the downside is that oftentimes industrial safety is compromised.

Most industrial operations don’t want to be faced with safety issues.  Whether it pertains to safety issues big or small, all industrial operations shudder at the prospect of a safety inspection that results in problems being found with their safety practices.  Though safety training often suffers when production is high, companies should still make it a high priority.

However, they don’t.  Greed is the reason for this.  The owners of these industrial companies don’t want to be wasting work hours conducting industrial safety training workshops for their workers; workshops they have to fund themselves—no, these owners want to maximize profits and the only way to do this is to have employees working, not learning.  In the eyes of the owners, industrial safety training workshops take up too much valuable time.  The companies run very tight ships with very stringent financial rules, so stringent that many of these companies are barely willing to give workers paid holidays.

A change in this management mentality is needed.  Big companies should not be allowed to continue getting rich at the expense of their employees’ safety.  A big change is critical to ensure the safety of industrial workers.  Although industrial safety training workshops take up time and eat into the productivity of these industrial operations, most would probably agree it is better for productivity in the long run if employees do not get hurt and find themselves out of work for weeks or even months.  Or worse, an industrial company could find themselves in the middle of a lawsuit that could permanently cripple their productivity.

A few hours of lost productivity seems like a small price to pay when the potential risks are considered and weighed.  If you happen to be an employee of one of these operations, then insist on proper training.  Don’t allow a couple of bigwigs to get richer at the expense of your health.  Industrial safety training is a necessity, whether these companies refuse to believe so are not.  You’re health is vital to making a living and supporting your family, two things you can’t do if you get hurt because you were improperly trained.  Don’t allow management to sidetrack you by keeping you busy and waving hefty overtime checks at you.  They won’t mean anything if you get hurt.  Insist upon proper industrial training.  Your family will be grateful for it.
